UD Announcement
Founder and Chairman To Cheung steps down as non-executive director
General Manager Queenie Chung appointed as non-executive director
CEO Monique Wong concurrently appointed as director
Effective from 1 July, 2023, UD's founder and chairman To Cheung will step down as non-executive director but will retain his minor shareholder status. Another key executive, Queenie Chung, General Manager, will also resign from her position on the same day and will be appointed as a non-executive director. Both will no longer be involved in the company's day-to-day operations. UD will now be fully managed by director Russell Chan and CEO Monique Wong.
UD was founded by To Cheung in 1998 and initially focused on domain registration, web hosting, and email services. It later successfully expanded into network security solutions and in recent years has aggressively entered the Web3 business, providing consulting services for blockchain, NFTs, metaverse, and cryptocurrency. Its clients are located in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. Queenie Chung joined the company in 2001 and has been instrumental in managing and expanding the business in sync with the company's growth.
Co-founder and director Russell Chan expressed gratitude to To Cheung and Queenie Chung for their long-term contributions to the company. Over the years, they have led the company through various challenges and established UD's leading position in internet infrastructure services. CEO Monique Wong recalled joining UD as a customer service representative 12 years ago and has since been nurtured by both superiors, repeatedly receiving important tasks. In particular, she was entrusted with the leadership role in the company's transition from Web2 to Web3, making today's succession particularly significant.
To Cheung will continue to run the "財科暗戰" YouTube channel, which popularizes knowledge about financial technology, and will provide Web3 business consulting services independently.
