SenseTime cooperates with ASL
On the 10th anniversary of the establishment of SenseTime Technology, an international forum was specially held. Alvin Zou, vice president of SenseTime Asia Pacific, mentioned at the press conference that SenseTime had earlier cooperated with ASL and signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen the AI services provided to customers in the Asia-Pacific region. Alvin Zou pointed out that the company has cooperated with ASL for three or four years in the past, and believes that ASL is a leading integrator and solution provider in Hong Kong. It is competitive in artificial intelligence technology, large models, etc., especially in public transportation, medical care, etc. In terms of aspects, it can provide customers with more intelligent integration solutions.
ASL also has contacts in Southeast Asia, such as Indonesia. "Because they really have good integration and public capabilities, we also hope that they will cooperate in other regions." If there are specific cooperation details, they will be announced.
Alvin Zou continued that ASL has also cooperated with the government in the past, such as transportation, and SenseTime intends to cooperate with ASL to build Hong Kong into a smart city, such as the northern metropolitan area. Including the intelligentization of airports and MTR to provide citizens with more convenient, faster and more efficient services.
When asked about the impact of the chip ban on the company, Alvin Zou pointed out that SenseTime currently uses domestic chips. She believes that the development of GPUs in the mainland has been rapid in the past two years. "Some competition is healthier for the market." Mainstream domestic chip brands , for example, Huawei has adapted AI reasoning and training.
He continued that there may still be some gaps in the training of Chinese chips, but taking Huawei's Kunpeng 920c processor as an example, "it is obvious that the performance has been greatly improved." "Technological things come first and then later. I don't think this is important. The key is whether everyone works together to benefit mankind. This is the most important thing. "In terms of talents, he believes that China also has a large number of AI talents. The United States is relatively leading in basic research, or theory. "But in terms of application and reasoning, China is not lagging behind." He believes that China has a large number of such application scenarios, and there is not much gap with the United States in this regard.
Huang Jigong, President of SenseTime International Business, mentioned that SenseTime’s overseas business group was established in 2018 and currently uses Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia as its main exhibition bases. Currently, the company focuses on literary AI and smart communities. It currently employs 80 employees in Saudi Arabia and hopes to have 150 employees next year.
He continued that in terms of local privacy protection, he took Abu Dhabi as an example. The GDPR "General Data Protection Rules" are based on European standards, which means that local servers that store data will not flow back to China. "This is very basic. a request". In the face of competition from American companies, he believes that SenseTime’s advantage is its strong delivery capability, which is “not necessarily worse than OpenAI.”
